You knew he had a crush on your friend; the first time he had been introduced to her he had come back to you and found every reason he could to talk about her and her work in the production studio. First, he had been simply impressed by her skills, but after seeing them interact in person you had been able to observe the lingering glances he gave her when she was reviewing one of the compositions he had presented her with.

She constantly talked about how brilliant and handsome he was. You always mentioned him to Aeri when the two of you were together or when she and your sister decided to pay you a visit.

Over time, you had begun to see a slight change in her sentiments towards Yoongi, as her crush on Namjoon seemed to become more and more unrequited. And so, you pushed your idol friend to reveal himself to the girl. You give him a soft smile and put your hand on his knee, trying to comfort him. He only sighed and put his head in his hand, leaning his elbow into the top of the back cushions.

He was always there when you were panicking about your job or your crush on Taehyung. He was your best friend, so you would be damned if you let him down here. Honestly, you were panicking just thinking about it, but you knew, eventually, the two of you would have to come clean. You just had a habit of over-thinking everything, which lead you to do nothing at all. This time, you would do something, if for no other reason than for the sake of your best friend. It took him a moment, but after a long pause, he nodded.

A couple weeks later, Yoongi had called you in excited panic one morning, stating that he and Aeri had decided to give it a go after spending a drunken night together in the studio. You were over the moon for your best friend, but your heart dropped in alarm when you realized that he would never let you back out of your end of the deal now. You were going to have to ask Taehyung out on a date, and you had absolutely no idea how to do it. You had spent the next few days trying to work up the gall to just say it, but every time you saw his flawless face your mind emptied, leaving you with nothing but the echoing of your heart drumming away in your chest.

How were you supposed to ask that man out, honestly? But every day you failed to say something you were lectured by Yoongi, who was a stickler for fairness when it came to having something promised to him in exchange for carry out a task. A task, he repeatedly reminded you, he had successfully carried out even if he had some help from liquid courage. And so, here you were, outside the recording room that Taehyung was currently held up in tweaking his part of the bridge to their next title-track.

You could hear him repeat the recording through the crack in the door you were peeking through, as if to scrutinize every note his deep voice produced and you got chills. You could listen to him sing forever. Soon, he noticed your head poking around the door and he paused the sound clip to wave you in with a smile. This was crazy— how were you supposed to expect this beautiful human to accept your offer? Though, to be fair, Taehyung could be a bit crazy himself, so the two of you were completely incompatible. So, with this little glimmer of hope and the fear of Yoongi giving you yet another lecture on not being a chicken, you blurted out your words before you lost your nerve.

You stared at him in complete terror with eyes the size of softballs in anticipation of his rejection. You face went bright red, but you were still in too much shock to really do anything. How the hell had you never noticed before? You only stared at his face in wonder. You nodded quickly, not caring if you seemed over-eager.

Sorry for interrupting you! You stepped away from the door and began pacing back and forth, fanning your over-heated face. Did you really have a date with Kim Taehyung?! Was this some kind of crazy alternate universe?! You had gathered yourself enough to begin speed walking down the hallway towards the back door of the building and pulled out your phone. Your first date with Taehyung was nerve-wracking to say the least.

You had forced your sister, Sanghee, and Aeri to come over and help you choose an outfit, as you felt completely unprepared. Sanghee offered the most assistance, while Aeri was quieter than usual. Once your friends had forced you to dress and threw you out of your own apartment, you had made your way out of the building, barely catching the joyful voice of your neighbor greeting the other two girls as they cheered for you from the doorway.

As you rode the elevator downwards your phone chimed with a message notification, which you looked down at fondly. Slipping your phone back into your purse as the elevator doors opened, you just about ran over a relatively tall man on your way out, causing you to recoil back into the elevator with a yelp, the man in front of you following suit in the other direction. Looking at him in slight panic, you realized the man who had just scared the shit out of was Kim Seokjin, the eldest of the idol group you were a stylist for.

You had met him before BTS debuted though, as your sister had befriended him when he had still been in university. You gave him a smile and he relaxed once he realized it was you. The two of you traded spots as he entered and you exited. You gave a quiet goodbye before starting towards the door. His voice stopped you however, his hand holding the doors open. Sorry, but I gotta go! He took you to a park— the two of you walked around and talked, getting to know each other better and reminiscing on old times you had shared. The two of you also had your fair share of arguments over little things, but for the most part the two of you were inseparable and made sure to make time for one another.

During this time, your sister had started dating Hoseok, and the two of them were almost too affectionate with each other. Still, you were glad to see your little sister so blissful and they truly were a great match. Your friendship with Aeri had become strained and you hardly saw the girl anymore. When Sanghee had questioned her about it, she had said that she was just really busy with work and her new relationship with Seokjin, which no one saw coming even if they were awfully cute together.

You unlocked your door to find that all the lights in your house were currently turned off save a warm glow coming from the kitchen. You stepped in and closed the door behind you with your foot. It was still fairly early, but he was often exhausted enough to fall asleep the moment he laid down. Hanging your purse by the door you strolled in, treading carefully as to not trip in the dimly lit apartment.

You poked your head around the corner into the kitchen. Candles were placed on every surface in the small apartment kitchen, filling the room with a golden light. Your breath caught in your throat when you saw Taehyung standing before you, dressed in a simple white button-up that was tucked into dark blue slacks. But what really took your breath away was the small, sparkling object that he was holding in his hand. You stared at it, then flicked your gaze back and forth between his eyes and the small, circular item between his index finger and thumb. Your face heated up instantly and you felt chills over your skin.

He really wanted to marry you? His job would make a marriage difficult at present but…. Oh, yes, you could kiss these lips forever. The months following were hectic to say the least. To say you had been disappointed in both Sanghee and Jimin was an understatement, and you felt a hole in your heart for the pain your neighbor was surly feeling at the betrayal of his girlfriend and best friend. But you still cared for both of them, no matter how big of a mess they had made. You had started to see more of Aeri because of this as she and Seokjin were both involved with the wedding as well.

She kept herself scarce though, as if she was actively trying to avoid you and Taehyung. Seokjin seemed quite supportive and caring for her even if you had noticed that she had become increasingly distant from him. You were almost jealous of the attentiveness that Jin provided to her— Taehyung, as much as he loved you, was rather oblivious to some things in your life. Not that you ever blamed him, but seeing Seokjin take such good care of Aeri made you wish Taehyung could be like that sometimes as well. With all of this in mind, it came as no surprise when Seokjin proposed.

He glanced at you before looking at Jungkook again. Jungkook looked up from his phone to nod at the older singer, finally noticing something was wrong as well. You gave him a light squeeze, to which he covered your hand with his much larger one and softly smiled. The next few days, Taehyung had been off, his mind always somewhere else and you noticed the change almost immediately. After a week, you finally decided to confront him, waiting up for him after a late night of practice, which had become an even later night after a few of the boys decided to go out afterwards.

As you flipped through some fashion magazines at the kitchen table, you heard the door open, but instead of one set of footsteps, you heard several, stumbling ones, along with some impacts against the hallway wall. Yoongi looked up at you, clearly the most sober of the three, and opened his mouth to respond when Seokjin interrupted him.

The younger man gave in easily, probably mostly due to the fact that he was also under the influence of the excess amount of alcohol you were sure they had consumed that night. But looking at the way his face fell dejectedly, you had a sneaking suspicion that there was something else going on.

You looked between the three of them questionably. You watched him leave, anxiety building in your throat as you looked back at Yoongi, who was struggling to hold Jin and looking at the floor in front of him with guilty eyes. You sighed and begrudgingly walked over to flank the other side of the eldest boy, wrapping your arm around his lean waist. He immediately slacked over you, wrapping his arm around your shoulders and resting his cheek on the top of your head.

You flushed, unsure of how you were supposed to react when you felt your heart betray you and flutter inappropriately. As the three of you turned around so Jin would fall back onto the cushions, he suddenly pulled you closer, making you let out a little gasp. You covered him with the throw blanket you kept in the living room and turned to Yoongi, who refused to meet your gaze. You crossed your arms and looked at your best friend, knowing he could feel your eyes on him and soon enough you heard him sigh.

You paused before following him, looking down at the man drunkenly passed out on your couch one last time. As you entered the kitchen, your anger was at its peak for the night now that you were positive that something was going on. You finally made eye contact with your best friend and you sternly stared him down, silently demanding he speak and explain what had happened.

He seemed to shrink under your gaze, and you knew you had won. He leaned back with one of his elbows on the table and put his forehead in his hand. You stared at him again, only this time your anger washed away as you sat down across from him and waited for him to continue.

What could have driven your friend to say no to someone so… well, perfect? Yoongi looked at you, exhaustion written all over his face. There were things that you needed to hear from him. But you knew that there was a reason he was distressed— something he should feel distressed about. He looked up at you finally, his features distraught and eyes melancholy as an inner war raged within his heart. You nearly broke down there, eyes welling up with tears. You had a million thoughts raging through your head— all of them worst case scenario.

Was that all that was going on? You were barely keeping it together, and any series of particular words would send you clear over the edge. He only stared at you, guilt written all over his face and you swallowed at the sight, bracing yourself for what could possibly change everything. He made no move to comfort you, knowing that you would only turn him away. It had been several weeks since then. You still had to see him for work— you were a Bangtan stylist after all— but you never spoke.
